Volkswagen India rolling up their sleeves

Volkswagen cars in India, with their base comfortably set, is now revving up to take on the Indian auto market.

One of Germany’s acclaimed car makers; Volkswagen Group entered the Indian car market in year 2007. They started their business under the brand name of Volkswagen India Pvt. Ltd and have brought in their admirable fleet of Volkswagen cars to India. They have a manufacturing facility in based in Chakan in Maharashtra that is proficient enough to make 1,10,000 units every year. Volkswagen India has a wide dealership network across the country with more than 70 outlets spanning more than 56 cities across 18 states and a couple of Union territories as well. The company is quite popular on many social networking sites and has a huge fan following base attached to its name. Their magnificent fleet of cars includes Volkswagen Passat, Volkswagen Jetta, Volkswagen Polo and Volkswagen Vento. They also import vehicles like the SUV car Volkswagen Touareg, the globally acclaimed Volkswagen New Beetle and the elegant sedan car Volkswagen Phaeton for their customers on order.
Volkswagen India is starting its own Regional Parts Distribution Centre in Gurgaon and has done the ground breaking ceremony a couple of days back. This is in line with its Depot Network Development Project that aims at producing genuine spare parts and components that will be supplied to the entire northern territory. This center is based in the strategic Kundli-Manesar-Palwal corridor and will supply components to all its dealerships and servicing centers across the region, which accounts for close to 35% to 40% of their spare part sales across the country and will start supplying parts from the end of this year. The company will further set up such PDC’s in Greater Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata for their respective regions.  Meanwhile, the company is launching the petrol car version of their graceful sedan Volkswagen Jetta while other upcoming cars like Tata Safari Storme and Chevrolet Captiva are coming as well in the coming weeks. I recently shared that Maruti rolls out Ertiga MPV with a price tag of Rs.5.89 lakh and Toyota Etios and Liva to hit South African shores.
