Maruti unveils Ertiga MPV, launch slated for March

After creating a superlative sizzling environment on the first day of Indian Auto Expo 2012, Maruti Suzuki India Limited has just unveiled the country's first compact multipurpose vehicle, Maruti Ertiga at the grand event. Yesterday, Maruti India had stunned the visitors by unveiling Maruti XA Alpha compact SUV concept. The charm of the MPV cannot be occupied in words and is a complete luxury to ticker the MPV standing upright in front of the crowd. Maruti Ertiga comes with a 3 row seats and it is spacious enough to accommodate seven adults comfortably.

In a tussle to regain its market position and in order to make its presence felt in the utility vehicle segment, company introduces its Maruti Ertiga MPV and the XA Alpha concept at the Auto Expo 2012. The seven seater MPV will be available in both petrol and diesel options . The petrol variant of the car will be powered by a 1.4 L K-14, petrol power mill which will belt out maximum output power of 70 KW at 6000 RPM and pumps out 130 Nm of peak torque at 4000 RPM. Meanwhile, the diesel model of Ertiga will house a 1.3 L diesel engine which belts out 66 KW of max power at 4000 RPM and 200 Nm of peak torque at 1750 RPM. Maruti Ertiga MPV diesel will likely to offer an impressive mileage of 20.77 Kmpl while the petrol motor is expected to deliver a mileage of 16.02 Kmpl.

As per reports, Ertiga MPV will endow various safety features such as dual airbag and Anti-lock braking system. The exact launch date of the car is yet to be announced but it is expected to hit Indian roads by the end of March or starting of June. Company built Ertiga MPV on the Maruti Ritz platform and it will be quite interesting to see the Maruti Ertiga price which is evidently meant to rival against Toyota Innova and Mahindra Xylo MPV in the Indian auto industry.
