Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), the undisputed king of utility vehicles, has revealed the Ssangyong's Rexton sports utility vehicle today at the Auto Expo 2012. It is expected that company will launch Mahindra Rexton SUV by the mid of 2012. Along with Rexton, Mahindra India also showcased the SUV concept model namely XIV 1 and Ssangyong Actyon Sports, which is speculated to compete against Tata's Xenon. The domestic auto giant also renders that the SangYong Korando SUV will also going to hit Indian shores, however company did not reveal any information about the exact launching details of the car.
According to Mahindra & Mahindra officials, after the successful introduction of Ssangyong Motors in India, the car buyers had been eagerly waiting to see what is in store for them. As a market strategy, M&M finally unveiled Rexton SUV at the 11th Edition of Indian Auto Expo 2012 in New Delhi today.In the month of November 2010, Mahindra & Mahindra signed an authoritative agreement with Ssangyong Motors and company owns 70 per cent stake of the company at a total cost of about $463 million and Rs. 2,015 crore according to Indian standards. Additionally, the domestic firm is also planning to introduce its all new electric versions of its well appreciated sedan, Mahindra Verito and the newly designed electric Mahindra Reva NXR.
It would be interesting to see the actual response from visitors towards the new Mahindra Rexton SUV and Mahindra Korando at the Auto show 2012.It is expected that Rexton SUV will house a massive 2.7 liter direct injected common rail diesel powertrain. This engine will belts out maximum output power of 162 Bhp and 402 Nm of peak torque. It is also speculated that this engine will be coupled with a five speed automatic gearbox and a five speed manual gearbox will also be available as option.
