Drawing attention of premium segment sports car and SUV lovers, critics, customers and enthusiasts in India, Mercedes Benz India Private Limited launched two of its most prestigious cars, the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class SL 350 and Mercedes-Benz SL-Class GL 500 today in New Delhi. The two vehicles have been priced at Rs98.5 lakh and Rs 80.9 lakh (both ex-showroom Delhi) respectively. With this launch Mercedes India seems to have opened the bag of some of its best offering to India and the company expects takers in good numbers. The launch of the Mercedes SL 350 and GL 500 that took place in New Delhi today was presided by Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director Peter Honegg and a battery of celebrities and media personnel were also present on the occasion. In his inaugural speech, Peter Honegg expressed his view and hoped that the two different segment cars will be able to establish themselves well in the Indian auto market. Where the Mercedes SL 350 is a sports car with 3.5 litre V6 engine enough to pump enough adrenaline in the sports car lovers, the Mercedes GL 500 is perhaps the most powerful SUV in its segment that runs on a 5.4 litre V6 engine likewise pumping out enough power to handle any terrain. Notably, a same segment SUV GL 350 is already on roads in India and has been very well accepted by the people of India. Two things that will be offer a favorable ground to Mercedes SL 350 and Mercedes 500 is the growing number of sports car and SUV customers in India and Mercedes as a brand. As is suggested by the sales figures made public by Mercedes Benz recently, the company sold around 833 units in March 2011, a growth of 89 percent over March 2010 when the Mercedes was able to sell only 440 units.
