Tata Motors Sanand plant quickly ramp-up production of Nano

Tata Motors has recnetly announced that with its 250,000-unit/year Sanand plant becoming operational ahead of schedule, the company will speedily ramp up production of the Tata Nano. Accordingly, the company has begun intimating retainee-customers that their cars are coming up for delivery. This is the final step, before the company opens up sales of the Tata Nano. Retainee-customers are those who had retained their booking with the company though not selected among the first allottee-customers from out of the booking process of 2009. Despite a steep increase in input prices, their Tata Nanos are being priced only three to four percent higher, depending on the model, than the price announced at launch. The terms and conditions of booking had provided that the applicable price of the car for a retainee-customer would be notified at the time of delivery. Tata Nano Also, as announced at the booking, they have received interest on their deposit. The allottee-customers, still awaiting delivery, will get their cars at the same price as announced at launch on March 23, 2009. Tata Motors would like to reward the loyalty of the allottee-customers for bearing with the company through a prolonged period of delivery, given the capacity constraints till the Sanand plant became operational. As a gesture of goodwill and gratitude, the company has announced for them a choice among a one-year free annual maintenance contract (AMC), or free accessories worth Rs.4000/- or an extended warranty. The Tata Nano has already received an overwhelming response. With the ramp-up at the Sanand plant, customers desirous of the car will soon be able to freely purchase the Tata Nano.

Huawei to sell a million smartphones in India


Huawei Technologies, a China based vendor has plans to sell a million smartphones in Indian smartphone market this year. The company will sell these smartphones through its own retail channels under its brand name. Earlier, company products like mobile phones and wireless data cards for laptops were sold by local service providers and telecom operators like Tata Teleservices, Bharti Airtel, and Reliance Communications used to put their own brand name on them. Huawei Mobile After introduction of new security regulations by GOI, imposed from February 2010, Huawei has planned to target the smart phone market with 20 new mobile models. These mobiles will be priced between Rs. 7,000 to Rs. 12,000. Like other Chinese handsets, these mobiles will also be made of chipsets from Qualcomm. Some Huawei smartphones will run on open source Android operating system and the rest on the Brew MP operating system from Qualcomm. These phones will be available in India through retail channels from August 1, 2010.

59th Mahindra Great Escape concludes successfully in Panvel

Vishnu Prasad Wins 1st Race in Round 2 of Volkswagen-JK Tyre Polo Cup India 2010 at Coimbatore

Vishnu Prasad, the 17 year old driver from Chennai, today won the 1st race in Round 2 of the Volkswagen-JK Tyre Polo Cup India 2010 at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore. The racer from Chennai led from start to finish in the 20 lap race as he became only the second winner of the Polo Cup today. He completed the race in 27 minutes and 57.043 seconds covered a total of 42 kilometres. He was followed home closely by Sahil Shelar from Pune and Karthik Shankar from Hyderabad. Championship leader Sailesh Bolisetti finished in a competitive 4th position after starting in 6th place. Most impressive today was the only woman on the grid, Alisha Abdullah who finished in 6th position after starting in 13th position. Vishnu had a great start and led comfortably with Sahil Shelar and Kathik Shankar close behind him. Sailesh Bolisetti made a brilliant overtaking move to pass Mohammed Fahad Kutty for 4th position on lap 11. The safety car came out on lap 12 after Suraj Bhagat stopped on track at the second corner due to a collision. It was back to racing when the safety car veered back into the pits with five laps to go. Vishnu had no trouble picking up from where he left off and crossed the chequered flag to win his first race in the Volkswagen-JK Tyre Polo Cup in India 2010. Mr. K K Swamy Vice-President and Managing Director, Volkswagen India Private. Limited, commented, "Today marked the first time the Race Polos raced on an actual race track. It was thrilling to see a change in the rankings from debut race in Pune, the hometown Volkswagen. It was also fantastic to see the sole woman racer in the series, Ms Alisha Abdullah, finish in the top 6." A delighted Vishnu expressed, "I had a great first race today. And I would like to thank Volkswagen for organising the event and the technical expertise from the coaches. Although I had few bad starts, it was a close race right till the end, and I fought hard to keep my 1st position." Second placed Sahil said, "This is my first time on the podium and I hope to be back here after the second race this afternoon. I am looking forward to starting in the reverse grid, it should make for a very interesting race." Third placed Karthik commented, "It feels good to be back on the podium, for he third time. My focus remains on the championship and I hope to be on the podium as often as I can." There were a host of dignitaries present for Round 2 of the Volkswagen-JK Tyre Polo Cup in India.
