After establishing successfully in the A-segment and B-segment cars, Maruti Suzuki India limited (MSIL), India's leading car maker is going to make its presence in D-segment car market by launching its first luxury family car "Maruti Suzuki Kizashi” by 2010. MSIL has already captured fifty percent small car market share. It has also launched its one of the most successful entry level sedans, Maruti Swift Dzire. Maruti Suzuki Kizashi is expected to be the first all-wheel drive sedan in the luxury D segment. Maruti Suzuki Kizashi will carry an advanced four-valve turbo-fired two-litre petrol, Euro V engine. The Kizashi was first showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2007 and then at the Delhi Auto Expo 2008. The car is expected to roll out from its Manesar plant. Maruti Suzuki Kizashi would cost the coustomer Rs. 10 lakh plus price and will compete with the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Sonata, Skoda Octavia and Volkswagen Jetta besides other cars that will debut in the next three years. Thus, The Kizashi will be Maruti Suzuki's first-ever D-segment car, which targets an uncompromising combination of affordability and emotional appeal, in addition to ensuring the cabin roominess that is essential for a D-segment.
